Angela Lansbury Sings ‘Beauty and the Beast’ 25 Years Later

In celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Disney classic ‘Beauty and the Beast’, 91-year old Angela Lansbury sang the titular song “Beauty and the Beast” at the Lincoln Center in New York City. The anniversary also included Alan Menken, who wrote several songs for the 1991 animated feature. Menken is seen in the video playing the piano to accompany Lansbury as she sings the timeless classic. Despite 25 years since the last movie, Lansbury is still exceptional in her part and sounds just as good as her 1991 rendition.

Alan Menken also wrote new songs in the 2017 live action remake of the Beauty and the Beast. In the live action version, Ms Potts, who was Angela Lansbury’s character, is played by Emma Thompson. Emma Watson will be reprising the role of Belle in the remake. The film has been a global financial and commercial success, and has garnered several positive reviews from critics. While there are some added songs and changes in the script, the story remains the same, with all the favorite songs and scenes, reenacted in live action.

British-Irish Angela Lansbury has been an actor, singer, and songwriter for more than 70 years.  Although she is most widely known as the voice of Ms. Potts in the Beauty and Beast, she is also known for her hit show, Murder She Wrote, and her contributions in theater, a well as several voice-over works in more recent years. Lansbury was made a Dame by Queen Elizabeth in 2014, for her services to drama, charitable work and philanthropy. Lansbury has an Oscar Award, a Tony Award, six Golden Globes, and a Grammy Award.
