Throwing baby showers and gender reveal parties is a pretty weird tradition. While it's viewed as a fun custom in the US, it's considered kind of rude elsewhere. To go and give gifts to expectant parents or attend an over the top cake cutting party is a little odd, and we can't forget about parents who struggle to conceive. It can be insensitive and emotional for them.

The More You Know

  • When the Super Bowl champion Giants visited the White House in 1987, they dumped popcorn on President Reagan.
  • The Nobel Committee declined to award the Nobel Peace Prize in 1948 because "there was no suitable living candidate." This was meant as tribute to Mahatma Gandhi, who was assassinated earlier that year without receiving the Prize.
  • The Guinness brewery supported all of it's employees who chose to fight in WW1. They were paid half of their wages while away, and their jobs were guaranteed upon their return. The brewery also sent them care packages containing chocolate and condensed milk.
