Tuesdays can be a drag. Luckily, April 9 at Ben & Jerry’s may offer some sweet respite from the mid-week blues. In honor of National Unicorn Day, the ice cream company is offering free cones to its customers all day long.
Ben & Jerry’s announced in a statement that participating Ben & Jerry’s Scoop Shops across the globe will be giving away unlimited ice cream cones and cups from 12 P.M. to 8 P.M. The cofounders of the company, Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield, started the tradition 40 years ago in 1979 as a way of expressing gratitude for their local Vermont community who helped to support the ice cream store in its inaugural year of business.
Long lines and large crowds are anticipated for the duration of the event. Even though the freebie is limited to just one scoop, Ben & Jerry’s encourages its patrons to make more than one trip.
