Fashion Label Unveils Human Skin Boots for Halloween

Earlier this week, a fashion brand caused quite a stir when they unveiled their newest boots. The new footwear was unique to say the least, because they looked like they were made from human skin. To be fair, the new shoe line was released in time for Halloween, but even with a horror theme, the shoes had some tentative reactions from the internet.

The shoes were from Canadian design team Matieres Fecales, which is French for “Fecal Matter”. They are selling boots that come with “individual toes, devil horns and heels in the shape of bones, all in a flesh tone that transforms the wearer’s legs into something otherworldly”. These unique items are for sale for a price of $10,000 a pair. They are the debut footwear for the brand.

The founders of Matieres Fecales, Hannah Rose Daltojn and Steven Raj Bhaskaran, are known for their interest in horror-themed designs. They originally released a photo of the boots that were not wearable and photoshopped. But even then, it received a mixed reaction from consumers.

“We can get this alien look and present it and tweak it with Photoshop and make it look really realistic. But at the same time, there is always this dysphoria in us. There is this urge inside of us to take what we do on the Internet and try to create that via real life. That is what we are doing with the shoes.” said Bhaskaran. Raj and Hannah worked with the artists Sarah Sitkin, who specializes in creating replicas of bodies and body parts.
